DR. KIRAN C. PATEL - FOUNDER

Kiran Patel was born in Zambia, Africa to Asian-Indian parents. He was educated under the British Educational System in Zambia and then got his diplomas from Cambridge University and The University of London. He then went to study medicine at Gujarat University in India and did his Internship in Africa. Dr. Patel did his residency in Internal Medicine in New Jersey in 1980. He completed a fellowship in the cardiology program affiliated with the Columbia University of New York in 1982.

Dr. Kiran moved to Tampa, Florida in 1982 and began his practice in cardiology. He was very successful and became a distinguished cardiologist in that area. He developed a physician practice management company and expanded throughout the Tampa Bay area, diverging into 14 practices including Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Cardiology.

Kiran was also in partnership with many point-of-service locations to form a multi-specialty network. This network helped patients access most medical services conveniently. He has actively engaged himself in managed care contracts and it has expanded considerably, providing care now for more than 80,000 patients. Apart from this, he has developed good associations with several HMOs and hospitals.

His success in managed care contracts led a group of doctors to seek his services to help them with an HMO in New Port Richey, Florida. Dr. Patel took up the project after discussing a pre-determined purchase option of the company. It was called the Well Care HMO, Inc. (Well Care). In 1992, Dr. Kiran Patel, along with Rupesh Shaw, CEO, and Pradip Patel, President, started a Medicaid managed care company. This company became the largest Medicaid provider in the state of Florida.

He also helped to bring around the struggling HMO, WellCare of New York and Connecticut.

He worked with more than 95 hospitals and a few hundred physicians in settling past due medical claims. Dr. Kiran Patel provided an additional $15 million in equity through Conversion of Brow and infused $10 million of new capital and acquired 55 percent of the publicly held Well Care Management Group.

Between 1995 and 2002, Dr. Kiran Patel built it into a billion-dollar company, providing services to more than 450,000 members, employing more than 1,200 employees and operating in Florida, New York and Connecticut.

He is presently serving as Chairman of Visionary Medical Systems. He believes that the Visionary Office will reduce the paperwork for physicians and give them more time to devote to their patients. He is a member on the following organizations: Fellow of American College of Cardiology; American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American Association of Physicians from the South East Asia, Past Chair Scholarship Committee.

The Drs. Kiran C. and Pallavi Patel Family Foundation focuses on bettering the world through health, education, and culture. The impact of their extraordinary generosity is evident across the globe, particularly in Florida, India, and Africa. While actively initiating projects, the Drs. Patel also respond in times of need.

When a major earthquake devastated villages throughout Gujarat, India, killing thousands, collapsing buildings and homes, and leaving masses of crippled people and orphaned children, Dr. Kiran C. Patel took action. He united the Tampa Bay community and the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (which he was a member of) and led an effort that rehabilitated villagers’ homes, constructed an orphanage and model school, and created four modern hospitals. More recently, the Patels helped NSU to deliver emergency supplies to hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico.

Bill West

WILLIAM WEST - PRESIDENT

With more than 30 years of real estate development experience, Bill had a vision to build a company that could take a dream, one that was imaginary to most, and make it a reality for people to enjoy. Bill’s vast experience in every product type allows him to bring the experience necessary to deliver a concept that not only makes sense financially but is the best fit for the surrounding areas.

It’s not uncommon to find Bill out traveling and sketching up a new concept, sometimes on a napkin or scrap piece of paper. Unbelievably, these “napkin sketches” are almost identical to final look of the places that he first envisioned. He is known by his peers as the “Steve Wozinak” of concept and real estate development.

“My only hobby is cracking a bottle of wine and drafting concepts for people to enjoy.” - Bill West

ERIC MILLER - VICE PRESIDENT

Eric has always had a passion for real estate and building spaces. Growing up he used to tag along with his family to open houses, in college he earned his real estate license to pay tuition, and at nights would always dream of building products for people to enjoy. After graduating from Florida State, Eric decided to focus on building real estate products which he has been doing since 2005.

While Eric enjoys creativity, he equally enjoys the details of getting a job done. His attention to detail is always consistent, whether managing a tight construction schedule, budget, or working on a new brand identity, Eric excels at making sure each project gets done on time and on budget.

Eric passed his love for real estate on to his wife Kenna and his daughter Kinley. Together they now relive the days of going to open houses, late night HGTV binge sessions, and traveling all over to find new and exciting concepts.

“Everything starts with a vision, however it is the ability to execute a vision that separates most from seeing their dream become a reality.” - Eric Miller

Dr. Sheetal Patel

DR. SHEETAL PATEL - VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS

Dr. Sheetal Patel began her professional career as a board certified Radiologist, earning her medical degree from University of Miami School of Medicine and going on to complete a residency in Radiology with University of South Florida in Tampa. She furthered her training with a fellowship in Musculoskeletal Radiology, a subspecialty which focuses on sports and orthopedic imaging. After completing her training, she worked with one of the top Radiology groups in Tampa, FL for over 9 years.

In 2014, while still practicing radiology, Dr. Patel completed her MBA at University of South Florida, finishing at the top of her class. Over the subsequent years she gradually transitioned fully into a business role and away from practicing medicine, leading to her current role as COO of the Patel Family Office. Today, she coordinates its operations and investment management across all portfolios. In addition, she actively manages the family’s real estate portfolio consisting of over $1B in assets across the hospitality, commercial real estate, and development sectors.

Since 2017 she has been involved in sustaining as well as growing the portfolio with the acquisition of several full-service hotels across the country as well as ground up development of a handful of hotels, including the soon to be open JW Marriott Clearwater Beach Hotel as well as the Wyndham Grand Clearwater beach (open since 2017). When the Covid crisis forced closures and severely curtailed travel she and her team were immersed in real time crisis management across the portfolio, working to create solutions where possible to mitigate the significant impact of Covid related challenges to one of the hardest hit industries.

She has also achieved success outside of the real estate portfolio. In 2016 the acquisition of a software company called Form i9 Compliance became a key part of her transition outside of medicine. Dr. Patel spent over 5 years at its helm, steadily growing revenues and building a best-in-class product which came to the attention of a large publicly traded company, leading to a successful and profitable exit sale in January of 2022. She has also invested in numerous early-stage ventures over the years in healthcare, biotech, CPG, technology and various VC and Private Equity Funds.

In the community, Dr. Patel is involved with various non-profit and charitable endeavors in the medical and education arenas both within and outside of the Patel Family Foundation which has projects both in the US and abroad. Locally, she also supports the Tampa Bay area as Vice President and board member of The Charity Polo Classic, an organization whose mission is “making a difference by collaborating with local charities to build a better Tampa Bay.”
